Pixel Ikus Entzunezko S.L. is an audiovisual services specialist based in Spain.
The company provides technical equipment to Euskal Telebista, a public television broadcaster and many production companies in the Basque Country. With more than half of its output focused on sports broadcasts, it supports coverage of major events such as the Copa del Rey, one of the world’s most prestigious national football cup competitions.
Having embarked on a project to renovate its mobile UHD OB unit, Pixel needed a video switcher solution that would satisfy a range of specific requirements that were key to one of its major customers.
Its product choice would also be driven by finding a solution that would utilise less space than its legacy equipment while offering greater flexibility and ease of operation.
Having evaluated a range of options, Pixel decided to use Ross Video’s Ultrix Carbonite for their renovated OB vehicle – the first time they had purchased a Ross product.
Working closely with Ross Video’s business partner, Meditel, the Ultrix Carbonite provided Pixel with the flexibility and ease of operation they required while offering a significant reduction in the space needed to house it within their mobile unit.
The Ross Video Ultrix Carbonite is a powerful integrated solution based on the “Software-Defined Production Engine” initially used for its revolutionary Ultrix Acuity switcher. Ultrix Carbonite combines the routing and processing capabilities of Ultrix with the sophisticated creative capabilities of Carbonite, the world’s most popular mid-size production switcher. When combined with the innovative TouchDrive control panels, Ultrix Carbonite creates a new standard in performance, flexibility and value, unmatched by any production system available today.
Following a straightforward purchase process, Pixel’s engineering team were able to quickly familiarise themselves with the Ultrix Carbonite and its wide-ranging capabilities.
Now installed in the mobile unit, it is used for signal management, inputs and outputs, and enables Pixel to offer high-quality services to third parties covering sports, live events and concerts.
Looking ahead, Pixel plans to consider solutions from Ross Video for additional future projects, and the company’s positive purchase and implementation experience has given them confidence that the partnership can help them to deliver the highest quality outside broadcast coverage of major events.
